Porsches and North Carolina

Everything on this site is under construction.  I'm a tinkerer and don't have time for a full-up effort so the pages are being done incrementally.

In 2003 we drove by a local dealership and stopped to look at a really clean 2002 Boxster. Two hours later I drove out in it.Talk about your mid-life crisis and impulse buying!Oh well, I’d been wanting one since before they came out.A friend gave me a poster of the prototype and I fell in love. For a while in 1984-1987 I had a 1980 Porsche 924 Turbo.A pretty little car, great to drive on the highway, but the undersized cooling system and the turbo made it impractical for in-town driving. As a result I spent almost as much time under it as I did in it.Got rid of it and postponed the Porsche dream for until that fateful day!

Here’s the car pretty soon after purchase.

At BRBS 2004 in Blowing Rock, NC

It’s not just the cars, it’s the people!  BRBS Fun.

Driving to Dinner.  Can you imagine 75 cars in a caravan on a twisty road through the NC mountains?

A shot of the Blue Ridge Parkway near Blowing Rock

We liked it so much, we bought a cabin.  We call it “Lucky Enough”.  The name is stolen from the quote found on decorative signs, coffee mugs, etc. all over the Blue Ridge that says “If you are lucky enough to be in the mountains, you are lucky enough”.  Click the picture to see the current conditions at “Lucky Enough”.
